Tell President Biden: Reunite Refugee Families Now!

It’s been more than seven years that I’ve been waiting to reunite with my family. Every year, I say that maybe this is the year I will reunite with my family. Whenever I talk to my youngest child, who I haven’t seen since he was born, he always asks when am I going to come to see you? I have no answer and that hurts me more.
Tens of thousands of resettled refugees in the United States like Rabi Mohamed, quoted above, have been separated from their families for years with no end in sight. Rabi's wife and sons, pictured above, are still in a refugee camp in Ethiopia seven years after he submitted his application to be reunited with them in his new home in the United States. Without his family by his side, Rabi's days and nights are filled with loneliness, uncertainty, and concern for his family's wellbeing. From across an ocean, he and his wife work tirelessly to navigate the long and winding maze of bureaucratic hurdles imposed by the U.S. government, but so far, have been met with a lack of communication, wrongful denials, and increasingly burdensome requests.
Unfortunately, Rabi's story is not unique. Refugee families from around the world — and especially Black and Muslim families like Rabi's — are subjected to lengthy separations and other dehumanizing treatment. Refugee families belong together and safe. That's why we're calling on people throughout the United States to urge President Biden to make family reunification pathways more efficient, more equitable, and more transparent.
Join us in fighting to make sure refugee families like Rabi's don't have to spend sleepless nights worrying, cross an ocean for a hug, or miss any more precious milestones and memories! Take action today.
